Water180 mlboil first
Milk150 mladd after tea
Sugar2 tspto taste
Boil the tea in water for 2 minutes, add milk and let it rise twice.
One 250g pack makes about 100 cups like this.
Method
The Black Oak way
- Boil waterAdd crushed adrak (ginger), elaichi or tulsi now if you use them.
- Add the teaBoil Black Oak for 1–2 minutes. Longer boiling gives a darker, stronger cup.
- Add milk & sugarBring it up to a boil two or three times on medium flame. This is what makes chai kadak.
- Strain & serveStrain through a fine chhanni and serve hot with biscuits or rusk.
Variations
Make it your own
Adrak chai
1 inch of crushed ginger per two cups, added to boiling water before the tea. Best with Classic.
Elaichi chai
2 lightly crushed green cardamoms per two cups. Adds a sweet aroma to Regular.
Masala chai
A pinch of chai masala after the milk goes in. Use the Extra kadak setting so the spice doesn't overpower the tea.
