Boil the tea in water for 2 minutes, add milk and let it rise twice.

One 250g pack makes about 100 cups like this.

Method

The Black Oak way

  1. Boil waterAdd crushed adrak (ginger), elaichi or tulsi now if you use them.
  2. Add the teaBoil Black Oak for 1–2 minutes. Longer boiling gives a darker, stronger cup.
  3. Add milk & sugarBring it up to a boil two or three times on medium flame. This is what makes chai kadak.
  4. Strain & serveStrain through a fine chhanni and serve hot with biscuits or rusk.

Variations

Make it your own

Adrak chai

1 inch of crushed ginger per two cups, added to boiling water before the tea. Best with Classic.

Elaichi chai

2 lightly crushed green cardamoms per two cups. Adds a sweet aroma to Regular.

Masala chai

A pinch of chai masala after the milk goes in. Use the Extra kadak setting so the spice doesn't overpower the tea.
